County National Bank Features Student Sculpture Art

/ Categories: Community News

A colorful art installation is on display at County National Bank’s (CNB) Jonesville branch office, courtesy of student artists from Jonesville High School.  “Sea Turtle Awareness” was a work of creative collaboration, intended to encourage recycling for the safety of sea creatures.

Students brainstormed together to determine the theme of the sculpture, as well as how to best utilize the wood shapes used in the structure. The wood pieces were recycled from a 2012 ArtPrize entry from Patrick Ethen, titled “Mirage.” According to Jonesville art teacher Lisa Geren, “The students problem solved how to construct the piece and how each piece should be painted. Individual designs were decided on to highlight creative collaboration.” Students from other classes also painted the rocks that are featured as part of the display.

Don Germann, Branch Officer for CNB’s Jonesville location, shared that CNB appreciates all of the effort that the students invest. “We started working with the Jonesville High School art class several years ago. The vision and creativity of the students has been amazing over the years. The current piece is one of my favorites.is one of my favorites. The style, design, assembly, and placement are very tricky for its location, but the Sea Turtles fit in very well.”

County National Bank recognizes the importance of supporting local schools committed to serving the community, banking on building a better future for all.
